Most people love to read fiction because it takes you on a journey and allows you to be a part of something bigger than yourself.
But, when the book is over, so is the adventure. What a bummer! What if it didn't have to be over? What if you could go beyond the book and be a part of the story?
Now, you can!
The Aegis Academy was crafted so that you could train to become one of Alex's heroes and develop your own gifting.
What the kids get
Odds are, you are a parent of a child who loves to read adventurous stories, so let's begin by chatting about what your child gets from this program. Feel free to have them with you and see their reaction.
1. First, you get a digital copy of Aegis: Catalyst Grove to read. After all, it would be fairly pointless to become a hero in a world you have no idea about. Catalyst Grove is the first in a planned series of four books that will take your child on an adventure with Graham Dawson - a normal 15-year-old orphan who is ordinary in almost every way, except for the extraordinary powers that unleashes when he gets upset or has bad dreams.
In his desperation to control and understand his powers, he embarks on a journey that turns his whole world upside down. He is captured by a secret organization, is forced to go on the run from other supernaturally gifted people, nearly drowns, and meets other kids like him in the process. It's a fast-paced, adrenaline-infused adventure that your child will willingly trade sleeping hours to finish (I realize that last part is not a great selling point for parents).
2. Once your child finishes the book, the adventure continues as they embark on a 10-day training program that will reveal their own superpower. I will be their guide and coach through all 10 days, encouraging them through the exercises, giving them behind-the-scenes stories from the development of Book 1, and explaining some of the Christian themes that are woven throughout the narrative.
3. Once day 10 is complete, your little recruit will become the next Aegis hero, made official with a real Pusher power medal that is mailed to your doorstep!
4. Each program also comes with exclusive access to an online Fans of Aegis chat group where they can swap stories of their training, talk about the series, and engage directly with me - the author! I'll be giving out fun details and sneek-peaks for the next book exclusively in this group.
For the Parents
Now that your kid is all riled up and excited, let's talk about what's in this for you - the parent. I am a father of three young kids and understand the dynamics of family life. I know parents' concerns and desires for their children because I have the same ones.
If you are like me, your primary concern is about content. What is my child putting into their brain by reading these books?
Content
When I was growing up, my parents mainly had to filter out sexually explicit scenes and cursing. The landscape was a relatively easy terrain to traverse. But today, everyone has an agenda. Cursing is the norm, sexuality is being promoted to younger and younger audiences, and nearly all the entertainment giants overtly champion liberal agendas. I created the Aegis series so my kids could have a fun, clean, and adventurous story to dive into. So, in all honesty, I also have an agenda: To provide wholesome, Christian-influenced entertainment that parents can have confidence in and which also builds character.
Character
I grew up as a year-round athlete and understand the refining power of pushing yourself to be better. The books have solid moral themes, but I also want to provide physical training that builds character. Many great stories like Lord of the Rings and the Chronicles of Narnia have characters who endure hardship and trials that forge them into who they were meant to be. This training is designed to complement the superpower your child is trying to attain, but it isn't easy. They will need to push themselves and train hard, pushing through the challenges of physical exercise to become a stronger and more confident version of themselves when it's all said and done.
Community
Lastly, I wanted to create a community of like-minded fans of the series, but I didn’t want to do it in a space where your child could be subjected to harmful or explicit material. And let’s be honest; no one needs to join YET another Facebook Group.

Cost
I want to say up front that I'm thrilled to offer you and your family a truly unique experience, but it also has to make financial sense.
I get it. Kids are expensive!
Sure, you need to feed, clothe, and put a roof over their heads, but extra-circular activities are so expensive right now, and if you have more than one kid, you might be looking at getting a side gig just to pay for it all. It’s frustrating; trust me, I know! My kids are super active, and I don’t want them to miss out on experiences just because of cost, but sometimes I have to remind them that I haven't found the money tree yet.
Activities are expensive.
- A 1-hour tennis lesson costs $60.
- Martial Arts sessions two days a week cost upward of $120 a month.
- To be on the swim team, you typically must hold a Rec. Club membership on top of the added cost of the swim team itself.
I could go on, but you get the point.
